Why Is the Second Half of My Stool Dark in Color?
The dark color in the latter part of stool may be caused by physiological factors such as dietary or medicinal intake, but it cannot rule out the reason of gastrointestinal bleeding, which can be improved according to relevant causes.
1. Physiological Factors: The dark color in the latter part of stool may be due to recent consumption of animal blood or black foods, such as black beans, black sesame seeds, etc. It also cannot exclude the intake of some iron medications, because the above factors may lead to changes in stool color, resulting in the dark color in the latter part of stool. Usually, it does not accompany other discomforts and belongs to normal physiological phenomena. It usually does not require special treatment and can generally be alleviated after improving diet and stopping the intake of iron medications.
2. Gastrointestinal Bleeding: If the latter part of stool is dark and accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, etc., it may be related to gastrointestinal bleeding, which is commonly seen in gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer. The above diseases may cause bleeding in the stomach or intestine, and the blood and stool undergo oxidation, which may lead to the phenomenon of dark color in the latter part of stool. Patients can take oral Vitamin K1 tablets or intramuscular injection of thrombin lyophilized powder and other medications for treatment.
