"Is it Safe to Have Sex During Late Pregnancy?"
Sexual Activity During Late Pregnancy
Sexual activity refers to engaging in intimate relations. While sexual activity during late pregnancy is generally safe for most women, some pregnant individuals may experience infections or premature labor as a result. Therefore, it is recommended to abstain from sexual activity during the final month of pregnancy. If there are contraindications to sexual activity during late pregnancy, it should be avoided altogether.
Generally Safe Situations:
During late pregnancy, if it is not the final month and the pregnant woman does not exhibit symptoms of preterm labor or inflammation, sexual activity is generally permissible. In such cases, sexual activity is unlikely to adversely affect the health of the fetus or the pregnant woman.
Potentially Risky Situations:
Engaging in sexual activity during the final month of pregnancy increases the risk of infection. Pregnant women who experience symptoms of preterm labor, such as irregular uterine contractions, frequent urination, or lower back pain, should avoid sexual activity and seek medical attention promptly. In some cases, treatment to maintain the pregnancy may be necessary to prevent premature labor. Additionally, if the pregnant woman exhibits signs of inflammation, such as itching in the vulva or vagina, excessive or discolored vaginal discharge, or unpleasant odor from the vulva, sexual activity should be avoided, and medical treatment should be sought promptly to prevent the inflammation from worsening or spreading.
