How to Perform a Tonsil Cleansing?
Tonsil cleaning is a practice used to alleviate tonsil stones and prevent tonsillitis. Primarily, tonsil cleaning can remove small particles and viruses in the mouth, which can help improve throat hygiene and enhance resistance. As the tonsils are located inside the mouth, they can be difficult to clean. It is advisable to rinse the mouth twice daily with warm saltwater or use a water flosser to flush the tonsils with warm water.
1. Inject warm water into a water flosser or Waterpik, turn it on, and test the water pressure to ensure it's suitable.
2. Hold the water flosser and rinse the tongue coating and the base of the tongue. Gradually adjust the water pressure and flush both sides of the tonsils using warm water.
3. Gradually flush both sides of the tonsils. Sometimes, loose tonsil stones can be easily coughed out, and they may also break into smaller particles.
4. Finally, use mouthwash, rinse for approximately 10 seconds, and spit it out to remove small particles from the mouth and increase antiviral capability.
Method 1: Rinse the mouth twice daily with warm saltwater to loosen tonsil stones and kill bacteria.
Method 2: Use a doctor-prescribed antibacterial mouthwash to help prevent the formation of new tonsil stones.
Tonsil cleaning is not a one-time solution. Proper care is needed to reduce the accumulation of stones and gradually eliminate them. Here are some care tips:
(1) Keep the mouth clean and rinse after eating.
(2) Use gargling solutions to help clean and soothe the tonsils.
(3) Ensure sufficient sleep, adjust clothing according to weather changes, and remove humidity from indoor air. For sick children, develop good habits of not being picky eaters or overeating.
(4) Exercise regularly to improve the body's resistance to diseases. Avoid excessive exertion and rest promptly after exertion. Quitting smoking and alcohol is crucial for preventing chronic tonsillitis. Do not lightly consider tonsillectomy surgery as it increases the risk of infection. Even after removal, cleaning is still necessary.
