How Should I Cope with Tinnitus?
There are many causes of tinnitus. If tinnitus is caused by noise, leave the noisy environment quickly and it will recover by itself in a quiet environment. If tinnitus is caused by diseases of the outer ear or middle ear, symptomatic treatment is required. Tinnitus caused by the cochlea and auditory nerve can be treated through traditional Chinese medicine.
2. If someone's tinnitus is accompanied by neurosensory hearing loss or facial paralysis, they should be cautious about acoustic neuromas. When acoustic neuromas are in their early stages (generally less than 1 cm), they do not require craniotomy and can be treated with gamma knife irradiation. If tinnitus is mistakenly attributed to kidney deficiency or internal heat, delaying diagnosis and treatment can not only increase the threat to the patient's life but also increase the risk and difficulty of surgery for larger acoustic neuromas.
3. Short-term tinnitus and ear fullness after flying, climbing, or getting angry are caused by negative pressure in the middle ear. The structure connecting the middle ear and the nasal cavity is called the Eustachian tube. Many people have similar experiences where pinching the nose and exhaling, opening the mouth and lifting the chin, or pressing the tragus with a finger can clear the Eustachian tube and alleviate tinnitus and ear fullness.
4. After getting a haircut, if broken hair falls into the ear canal and one end touches the eardrum, touching the ear may produce a sound similar to a drumbeat. After removing the hair, the tinnitus will disappear.
