What Causes Pain in the Heart and Left Arm?
Consider that dull pain in the heart and left arm may be related to angina pectoris, muscle strain, intercostal neuropathy, and other causes.
1. Angina Pectoris: Common symptoms of angina pectoris include pain in the left side of the chest, which can radiate to the left upper limb. Pain or discomfort may occur due to neural traction and stimulation. Tests such as troponin, electrocardiogram, and other related examinations are required.
2. Muscle Strain: When chest expansion and upper arm movements are performed for too long or with excessive force, it can cause muscle strains in the pectoralis major, biceps brachii, triceps brachii, and other muscles, leading to dull pain in the heart and left arm. Hot compresses and physiotherapy can provide relief.
3. Intercostal Neuropathy: For example, left intercostal neuritis caused by the herpes zoster virus can cause dull pain in the patient's left arm, manifesting as stabbing pain during deep inspiration.
In addition to the above causes, there may be other reasons such as coronary heart disease. One should remain vigilant and seek medical attention promptly. Doctors should be consulted to identify the cause, eliminate risks, and provide necessary treatment if required.
