Causes and Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

The occurrence of hemorrhoids is related to genetic factors, dietary factors, bowel habits, intestinal inflammation, and other conditions, which can lead to hemorrhoids from a young age. Common symptoms include rectal bleeding, anal fullness, dampness, itching, and pain. Additionally, the presence of certain triggering factors can easily lead to hemorrhoid recurrence, such as dietary factors, poor lifestyle habits, pregnancy, childbirth, and more.

1. Dietary Factors:

Frequent consumption of spicy and stimulating foods like seafood, peppers, barbecued foods, and long-term alcohol consumption can lead to local congestion and edema in the anus, predisposing individuals to hemorrhoids.

2. Poor Lifestyle Habits:

Habits like staying up late, overexertion, and prolonged sitting can cause dilation of the local venous plexus in the anus, making hemorrhoids more likely under increased pressure.

3. Pregnancy:

During pregnancy, the enlarged uterus and increased abdominal pressure can hinder local blood flow, contributing to the development of hemorrhoids.

4. Childbirth:

During childbirth, the separation of the anus, rectum, and vagina can lead to rectal and anal prolapse. Additionally, postpartum relaxation of pelvic floor muscles can also contribute to hemorrhoid development.

5. Other Factors:

Congenital stenosis of the lumbar and sacral vertebrae can compress local blood vessels, impeding blood circulation and predisposing to hemorrhoids. Furthermore, ascites caused by diseases like liver cirrhosis can elevate anal pressure, potentially triggering hemorrhoids.

If hemorrhoids are small and asymptomatic, treatment is generally not necessary. It is recommended that patients consume a diet rich in fiber to maintain bowel regularity, prevent constipation and diarrhea, develop good bowel habits, shorten bowel movements, and engage in anal lift exercises. If hemorrhoids are severe or accompanied by other discomforting symptoms, prompt medical attention and treatment are advised.
