How long does fever last in leukemia patients?
Patients with leukemia often experience fever symptoms that can last for 1-2 weeks. However, in the case of acute myeloid leukemia type M3, fever may not be present.
Short Duration Scenarios
- Low-grade Fever: If the patient's condition is mild, and they have good physical fitness, their body's temperature regulation center may become abnormal during illness, leading to low-grade fever. This usually resolves within approximately 1 day.
- Moderate Fever: If caused by acute lymphocytic leukemia or chronic myelogenous leukemia, and the patient's physical fitness is poor, the fever may last longer, requiring approximately 2 weeks for recovery.
Longer Duration Scenarios
In patients with acute promyelocytic leukemia, due to differentiation and maturation disorders, a large number of immature granulocytes proliferate within the bone marrow, inhibiting normal hematopoiesis. This results in fever symptoms, but generally, it does not cause significant high fever and is mostly manifested as low-grade fever. Some patients may even show no significant fever at all. It is recommended that patients promptly seek medical attention at reputable hospitals to avoid delaying treatment. In daily life, pay attention to rest, avoid overexertion, and maintain a healthy diet rich in fresh fruits, vegetables, and high-quality protein sources to replenish essential nutrients and promote good health.
