Back Scraping Technique

Back scraping can be applied to the Du Meridian (from Dazhui to Sacrum), Jiaji points, and Bladder Meridian. When there is discomfort or soreness in the shoulders, neck, breasts, or waist, many people choose to have back scraping. Scraping is a very good way to maintain health, but there are certain considerations for different parts of the body. The back is the reflex area of the five viscera and six bowels. When scraping, the technique must be correct in order to dredge the meridians and expel toxins from the body.

1. First scrape the Du Meridian: Use the corner of a square scraping board, tilt the board 45 degrees to the skin, and scrape the Du Meridian from top to bottom (from Dazhui to Sacrum). Repeat each motion 5 to 8 times until a rash appears.

2. Scrape the Jiaji points: Use the corner of the scraping board to scrape the meridians adjacent to the Hua Tuo Jiaji points along the Du Meridian.

3. Back: Use the corner of the square scraping board to scrape the bilateral scapular sutures, keeping the scraping board close to the skin and applying balanced and penetrating pressure.

4. Scrape the Bladder Meridian: First scrape the outer Bladder Meridian, then scrape the inner Bladder Meridian (the inner Bladder Meridian is located 1.5 inches away from each side of the spine, and the outer Bladder Meridian is located 3 inches away from each side of the spine).

5. Scrape the rib sutures diagonally downward: Scrape five to six rib sutures (not on the ribs), starting from the Du Meridian and scraping down to the ribs. By scraping the back, it helps to regulate muscle contraction and relaxation, allowing for corresponding adjustments in tissue pressure, which can effectively promote blood circulation around the scraped tissues. This increases tissue flow and ultimately achieves the goals of "activating blood and resolving stasis" and "removing stasis and promoting regeneration." Back scraping therapy has significant effects on pain-related diseases, colds and fever, sub-health states, etc. Additionally, it also has excellent effects in disease prevention, health care, and mild dysfunction of viscera and organs. Back scraping not only eliminates pain foci but also relieves muscle tension. When muscles are relaxed, pain and compression symptoms can be significantly reduced or eliminated, and it also promotes the repair of lesions. It should be noted that scraping therapy is contraindicated on areas of the body with boils, ulcers, abscesses, rashes, and unexplained lumps, as it may lead to wound infection and spread. Scraping therapy is also contraindicated on areas of acute sprains, trauma, and fractures, as it may increase bleeding at the injury site. Individuals with severe cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, liver and kidney dysfunction, generalized edema, and pregnant women should also avoid scraping.
