"Is Rheumatic Polymyalgia Curable?"
Rheumatic Polymyalgia
Rheumatic polymyalgia typically cannot be cured clinically. However, through active treatment, the progression of the disease can be controlled, thereby alleviating uncomfortable symptoms.
Etiology
Rheumatic polymyalgia is a common acute inflammatory rheumatic disease that affects the elderly. Its etiology may be related to genetic factors, infection, and other relevant factors. Patients commonly experience muscle pain, stiffness, and accompanying symptoms such as anorexia and weight loss.
Treatment Methods
If the patient's condition is relatively mild, manifesting as slight muscle soreness and fatigue, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can be prescribed under a doctor's supervision for treatment, such as Ibuprofen Sustained-Release Capsules and Diclofenac Sodium Sustained-Release Tablets, to alleviate symptoms. Additionally, the patient should rest in bed and avoid strenuous physical activity.
In cases where the patient's condition is severe, with evident joint swelling and limited mobility, glucocorticoid medications must be administered as prescribed by a doctor, such as Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection and Prednisolone Acetate Injection. When necessary, immunosuppressants can be used in combination, such as Methotrexate Tablets and Leflunomide Tablets.
In daily life, it is essential to maintain a balanced diet, focusing on light and easily digestible foods. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables can supplement the body's vitamin requirements, promoting overall health. Furthermore, regular hospital check-ups are crucial to monitor the progression of the disease.
