"How to Treat Bedsores Quickly for Effective Healing?"

Update Date: Source: Network

Bedsores

Bedsores, also known as pressure sores, are caused by prolonged pressure and moisture build-up. The circulatory system is severely disrupted due to the pressure, leading to inadequate blood supply, which in turn causes ischemic necrosis of the skin, bacterial erosion, and ulceration. In some cases, patients may be unable to self-care and experience urinary incontinence, resulting in long-term corrosion and infection of body tissues by urine and feces.

Treatment Methods

1. Eliminate the Source of the Problem

The first step in treating bedsores is to eliminate the source of the problem. For wounds caused by pressure, the patient should be turned over to relieve the pressure. The optimal position for lying flat is to maintain an angle of around 30 degrees between the back and the bed surface, with a pillow used to support the back, ensuring that the main pressure is not on the bones.

For bedsores caused by corrosion from excretions, the wound should be cleaned and medical care should be provided using specialized tools such as diapers to prevent further corrosion.

2. Treat the Wound

After eliminating the source of the problem, the wound should be treated. The first step is to clean the wound, removing any scabs and ulcerated tissue. Methods for removal include:

  • Removing Scabs: Use a cotton swab soaked in saline solution to apply to the wound, cover with a plastic bag, and leave for 40 to 50 minutes. Then, use medical tweezers and scissors to gently remove the scabs.
  • Removing Ulcerated Tissue:
    • Method 1: For wounds with thick yellow, black, or white ulcerated tissue, first disinfect with mercury bromide solution, then use medical tweezers and scissors to trim the tissue.
    • Method 2: If the ulcerated tissue is thin and difficult to remove with tweezers and scissors, use a cotton swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide to clean the tissue for one minute, followed by rinsing with saline solution.

After removal, the wound should be treated by rinsing with saline solution, drying with a clean cotton swab, and then applying a wound-healing ointment such as Shi's Mattress Sores Ointment. Leave the ointment on for 30-40 minutes, then gently clean the wound with a dry cotton swab. Repeat this process every 5 to 10 minutes as needed.
