How Should I Treat a Wound After Falling Down?
In daily life, everyone may fall down. When falling, it is generally necessary to check for fractures first. If there are no fractures, the skin may be ruptured, and there may be a lot of dust on the surface of the wound. The wound can be cleaned with clean water, and then disinfected with iodophor or hydrogen peroxide. Finally, anti-inflammatory drugs can be applied to the wound, and hemostatic tape can be used to stop bleeding. However, it should be noted that the wound should not be sealed.
1. Check the injured area. Regardless of where the fall occurred, try to move the injured area to see if there is a fracture. If there is a fracture, it will be very painful and movement will be difficult, so it is necessary to go to the hospital immediately. If there is no fracture and the pain is tolerable, there is generally no need to worry.
2. Clean the wound. After checking the injured area, check if there is a wound or bleeding. Sometimes falls may only result in bruises, which are generally not serious. Remember to apply a cold compress with an ice towel to reduce swelling. After 48 hours, switch to a warm compress to promote the absorption of swelling and bruises. A warm compress can be applied with a hot towel or hot water bag. While applying the warm compress, topical sprays such as Hongyao aerosol or Yunnan Baiyao spray can be used.
3. Disinfect the wound. If there is a bleeding wound after falling, the wound should be cleaned with running water first. Then, disinfect the wound and its surrounding area with hydrogen peroxide or iodophor. After that, apply cephalosporin to the wound.
4. Daily care. It is recommended to change the dressing every day, and it is better not to wrap the wound. Contact with air can help with wound healing. If the gauze sticks to the wound, it can be slowly removed by wetting it with hydrogen peroxide or 0.9% saline solution. Using these solutions to wet the gauze will make the removal less painful.
