What Are the Traditional Chinese Medicine Therapies for Peroneal Nerve Paralysis?
1. Commonly used acupuncture points and areas include Xuehai, Yanglingquan, Zusanli, Jiexi, Weizhong, Chengshan, and the anterolateral aspect of the lower leg.
2. Techniques include rolling, finger-rubbing, holding, plucking, twisting, wiping, shaking, and friction.
3. Surgical Method: The patient lies supine, and the doctor sits on the affected side. Apply the rolling technique to the anterolateral aspect of the lower leg of the affected limb, focusing on the tibialis anterior muscle, moving from proximal to distal to the dorsum of the foot. This should be repeated back and forth for about 10 minutes. Rub the Xuehai, Zusanli, Yanglingquan, and Jiexi points with fingers for about 1 minute each. Select Weizhong and Chengshan points, and repeatedly move the tibialis anterior muscle up and down. Finger kneading and lifting techniques can also be alternately used to enhance the stimulation. Twist and wipe the toes, shake the ankles and toes. Rubbing therapy with the tibialis anterior muscle can also be applied.
1. Treatment should be tailored to the cause of the injury. If the nerve is severed, suturing should be performed as soon as possible. Tendon grafting and functional electrical stimulation are viable options.
2. Physical therapy, electrical stimulation, acupuncture, physiotherapy, and vitamin B complex for neural function recovery.
