What Causes Dry Mouth?

Dry mouth is caused by conditions such as Sjögren's syndrome, hypercalcemia, and diabetes. If symptoms worsen, it is necessary to seek medical attention promptly.

1. Sjögren's Syndrome: Sjögren's syndrome is often associated with factors such as infection, endocrine, and genetics, leading to immune cell damage in the salivary glands, resulting in salivary gland damage and reduced saliva secretion. Clinical symptoms include dryness of the mouth and nose. Treatment can include medications such as Compound Cyclophosphamide Tablets, Azathioprine Tablets, and Cyclopentholone Tablets, under the guidance of a doctor.

2. Hypercalcemia: Hypercalcemia typically refers to an abnormally high concentration of serum ionized calcium, generally associated with dehydration or excessive intake of calcium, leading to abnormal electrolytes in the body, which can cause symptoms of dry mouth and thirst. Medications such as Risedronate Sodium Tablets, Furosemide Tablets, and Alendronate Sodium Tablets can be used for treatment under a doctor's guidance.

3. Diabetes: Diabetes may be related to infection, the environment, and autoimmune system deficiencies, leading to significantly elevated blood sugar levels and osmotic diuresis, resulting in severe water deficiency in the body and causing symptoms such as excessive drinking, weight loss, and thirst. Medications such as Glibenclamide Tablets, Gliclazide Modified Release Tablets, and Glipizide Modified Release Tablets can be taken as recommended by a doctor.

Apart from the aforementioned causes, it may also be caused by conditions such as diabetes insipidus. Patients are advised to avoid prolonged bed rest and engage in appropriate exercise.
