What are the symptoms of anal eczema?
The symptoms of anal eczema include skin rash, severe pruritus of the local skin, and dampness and excessive sweating around the anus.

1. Skin Rash
Anal eczema refers to a common acute or chronic skin inflammatory disease occurring around the anus caused by various internal and external factors. It can be classified into acute anal eczema, subacute anal eczema, and chronic anal eczema according to the course of the disease. The typical symptom of anal eczema is the appearance of skin rash around the anus, and the morphology of the rash is related to the type of the disease. Acute anal eczema may present with erythema and papules, and if the condition is severe, small vesicles may appear. Subacute anal eczema is characterized by reduced skin lesion exudation and erosion but may still have papules and a small number of papulovesicles. Chronic anal eczema manifests as hypertrophic skin, rough surface, infiltrative dark erythema with papules, scratches, and scales on the affected area. The local skin may have varying degrees of lichenification, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation.
2. Severe Pruritus of the Local Skin
Anal eczema may be related to the interaction between internal and external factors. These factors stimulate the skin to release histamine and other biologically active substances, causing vasodilation, increased capillary permeability, smooth muscle contraction, etc., thereby mediating local inflammatory reactions and causing severe pruritus of the local skin.
3. Dampness and Excessive Sweating Around the Anus
The small vesicles of anal eczema are prone to exudation, or scratching due to itchiness can lead to ulceration and exudation of the rash around the anus, manifesting as dampness and excessive sweating of the skin around the anus. In addition, anal eczema may also cause symptoms such as pain and local skin odor. Hormonal ointments or antibiotic ointments can be used externally under a doctor's guidance to relieve itchiness, kill bacteria, and reduce inflammation.
