What is the Condition Caused by Irritating Cough?
Irritating cough may be caused by throat inflammation, anemia, neurasthenia, and other diseases. Excessive alcohol consumption and smoking can also lead to this condition. Irritating cough refers to the sudden onset of coughing symptoms, accompanied by throat burning, itching, and other symptoms, which can affect normal speaking. It is necessary to identify the cause as soon as possible and take corresponding measures.
1. The causes of irritating cough are mostly due to acute or chronic inflammation of the throat, long-term smoking and drinking, and diseases of adjacent organs through the reflex of the vagus nerve. It is also common in patients with neurasthenia, hysteria, anemia, menopause, etc., as well as singers, teachers, ticket sellers, and others who frequently use their throat.
2. The symptoms of irritating cough include hypersensitivity of the throat mucosa to general stimuli, such as food and saliva touching the throat, which can also cause coughing and laryngeal spasms. Abnormal throat sensation includes self-perception of itching, burning, pain, dryness, or foreign body sensation in the throat.
3. Examination for irritating cough should first consider a laryngeal endoscopy to reassure the patient. Secondly, it cannot exclude coughing caused by factors such as pharyngitis. Episodic irritating cough requires chest radiography. If bronchitis or respiratory infection is confirmed, anti-inflammatory drugs and cough suppressants can be prescribed for symptomatic treatment under the doctor's advice.
