What Is an Abdominal Ultrasound Scan for Uterine Appendages?
Transabdominal color Doppler ultrasound of uterine appendages can detect various problems in women, such as whether the uterus is normal, whether there are tumors or hyperplasia, and to determine the location of the tumor. It can also check whether there are endometrial polyps or other issues in the uterus. Additionally, this examination can also inspect the fallopian tubes and ovaries on both sides of the uterus to observe whether there are hydrosalpinx, enlarged fallopian tubes, ovarian tumors, etc.
1. There are two common methods for color Doppler ultrasound examination of the female uterus and its appendages: one is transvaginal ultrasound, also known as vaginal ultrasound, and the other is the commonly used transabdominal ultrasound. Before the transabdominal ultrasound examination, women need to fill their bladder by drinking a large amount of water in a short time to increase metabolism and produce urine quickly to fill the bladder.
2. The filled bladder during transabdominal ultrasound examination can serve as a good acoustic window, allowing for clearer observation of the size, position, shape, and internal echo of the uterus, to detect whether there is fluid accumulation or space-occupying lesions in the abdominal cavity.
3. Transabdominal color Doppler ultrasound of uterine appendages can detect whether there are inflammatory conditions, pelvic effusion, enlarged fallopian tubes, uterine fibroids, endometrial polyps, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts, teratomas, chocolate cysts, ovarian cancer, and other conditions in the uterine appendages.
4. It is recommended that women of childbearing age undergo a comprehensive gynecological examination every year to determine their physical health status and help maintain normal reproductive function.
