What is the Normal Range for Sperm Count?
The normal sperm count for men is more than 20 million sperm per milliliter of semen.
I. Normal Range of Sperm Count
1. Semen Volume: More than 0.5 milliliters (usually 2-3 milliliters).
2. Liquefaction Time: Complete liquefaction within 30-60 minutes.
3. Motility Rate: More than 60% (usually 60%-80%).
4. Motility Power: Grade II or above (Grade III or above is the best) or a and b grade sperms should be 50%.
5. Sperm Count: More than 20 million sperm per milliliter of semen.
6. Inflammatory Cells (WBC): Less than one plus (+).
7. Abnormal Sperm: Less than 30%.
8. Semen should be weakly alkaline with a PH value of 7.2-7.8. A semen PH value of 8.0 is commonly seen in acute infections such as seminal vesicle inflammation and prostatitis.
II. How to Treat Low Sperm Count
1. Factors that Affect Low Sperm Vitality: Many men have the habit of smoking and excessive drinking, which can directly and indirectly affect the motility and quality of sperm. Lack or decreased activity of enzymes related to sperm motility, lack of vitamins, and working in high-temperature, radiation, or exposure to chemical toxins can also lead to low sperm vitality.
2. The growth of sperm requires nutritional substances, and the trace element zinc is known as a "sperm vitalizer". Picky eating, infrequent consumption of meat, eggs, fish, and dairy products can lead to a decrease in zinc levels in the body over time, which can then lead to a decrease in sperm count and even fertility problems for men. Sitting for extended periods can also affect sperm vitality, especially for occupations such as IT professionals and drivers.
