Where is Kongzui Acupoint Located?

Kongzui is a xi-cleft point of the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian, positioned on the radial side of the palmar surface of the forearm, on the line connecting Chize and Taiyuan, 7 cun above the wrist crease. It is innervated by the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm, the superficial branch of the radial nerve, and the cephalic vein, radial artery, and radial vein. It is mainly used to treat cough, asthma, hemoptysis, sore throat, pain in the elbow and arm, and other conditions.
Different treatment methods applied to Kongzui have different effects. For example, flicking Kongzui with the thumb and persevering in this practice over a long period can prevent and treat cough, asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, and other conditions. Using moxibustion with mugwort sticks on Kongzui can relieve pain in the elbow and arm. Applying a suction cup to Kongzui can alleviate pain in the elbow and arm, headache, and fever with no sweating. Additionally, Kongzui can be used in combination with other acupuncture points for treatment. For instance, it can be paired with Feishu (BL13) and Chize to treat cough and asthma; paired with Yuji (LU10) to treat hemoptysis; and paired with Hegu (LI4) and Dazhui (GV14) to treat fever with no sweating and headache.
There are two commonly used clinical methods for locating Kongzui. One method involves extending the arm forward with the palm facing upwards, grasping the middle section of the arm with the other hand, and pressing down with the thumbnail to locate the point. Another method involves first identifying the locations of Chize and Taiyuan, measuring 1 horizontal finger-width upwards from the midpoint of the line connecting Chize and Taiyuan, and locating the point at the medial border of the radius.
Locating Kongzui and performing massage, moxibustion, cupping, and other treatments should be done by professional physicians. Avoid performing these treatments yourself to prevent improper location or operation, which may harm your health.
