Will Blind Pockets Disappear on Their Own?

Update Date: Source: Network
Whether the Blind Pocket Will Disappear on Its Own Depends on Specific Conditions

If the wisdom tooth is positioned normally and can fully erupt, the blind pocket will disappear on its own. However, if the wisdom tooth is positioned abnormally and there are obstacles to eruption, the blind pocket will generally not disappear on its own.

A blind pocket refers to a pouch-like structure formed when the crown of the wisdom tooth is not fully exposed and is wrapped by the soft tissue of the gum. If the wisdom tooth is positioned normally and can fully erupt, the blind pocket will usually disappear on its own.

If the eruption of the wisdom tooth is obstructed and its growth position is crooked, food residue is likely to accumulate inside the gum, leading to bacterial growth. If not cleaned in time, it can easily cause an inflammatory reaction, inducing pericoronitis of wisdom tooth, and also cause symptoms such as swelling and pain in the gum next to the wisdom tooth. If not treated, the inflammation will not resolve on its own, and thus the blind pocket will not disappear on its own.

Patients with pericoronitis of wisdom tooth can be treated through surgical methods such as incision and drainage of abscesses, gingivectomy, and extraction of wisdom teeth, performed by professional doctors.
