Why Does My Arm Appear to Be the Same Size After Liposuction?
After arm liposuction, the arm may still appear thick as if no suction has been performed, which may be caused by swelling during the subacute reaction period, inadequate care, damage to capillaries, etc. The swelling is most severe 2-3 days after surgery and generally resolves within 1 month; however, some patients who exercise prematurely or consume stimulating foods may affect the resolution of arm swelling. After arm liposuction, it is recommended to wear a shaping garment, avoid contact of the incision with water, and refrain from consuming spicy and stimulating foods.
Why Does the Arm Appear Thick After Liposuction Despite the Procedure?
1. It may be due to swelling during the subacute reaction period of 1-3 months after surgery, which is a normal occurrence.
2. Generally, the swelling is most severe 2-3 days after surgery and gradually resolves. Approximately 90% of patients complete the resolution of swelling within 1 month.
3. However, a few patients may experience delayed resolution of arm swelling due to individual differences or inadequate care, such as premature exercise or consumption of other stimulating foods.
4. During the recovery period, the arm may be edematous, resulting in a thicker appearance. It generally takes 3 to 6 months for recovery.
5. It may also be caused by damage to small lymph nodes, capillaries, or tissues during surgical treatment.
