During medication, patients should avoid drinking alcoholic beverages as it can cause accumulation of acetaldehyde in the body, interfere with the oxidation process of alcohol, and lead to disulfiram-like reactions such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, headache, and facial flushing.
