What Foods Should Be Consumed More by People with Liver Cancer?
For cancer patients, in addition to supplementing more nutrients in their daily diet, they can also consume some foods with anticancer effects. For patients with liver cancer, after surgical treatment, they can consume more high-protein and easy-to-digest foods. At the same time, they should try to avoid or minimize the consumption of pickled, grilled, or fried foods to prevent adverse reactions from stimulating the body. Liver cancer, also known as liver malignancy, can be divided into two main categories: primary and secondary. Primary liver malignancy originates from the epithelial or mesenchymal tissues of the liver. The former is called primary liver cancer, which is a highly prevalent and extremely harmful malignancy in China; the latter is called sarcoma, which is relatively rare compared to primary liver cancer.
1. Drinking Tea: Prepare tea with boiling water and drink it twice a day. Tea has the benefits of resolving phlegm and detoxifying, as well as aiding digestion and relieving greasiness. This is beneficial for liver cancer patients with hepatomegaly, abdominal distension, and anorexia. Additionally, tea contains vitamin C and caffeine, which can increase gastric acid secretion. Therefore, drinking tea is beneficial for liver cancer patients.
2. Eating Bitter Cucumber: Consume cucumber raw, stir-fried, or juiced. The bitter part of the cucumber, mainly located at the head, contains cucurbitacins A, B, C, and D. Among them, cucurbitacin C has antitumor effects in animal experiments with relatively low toxicity. Coupled with the cooling and detoxifying properties of cucumber itself, it can promote urination, detoxify, and reduce heat. Liver cancer patients with ascites and jaundice can consume bitter cucumber.
3. Hawthorn and Dried Tangerine Peel Tea: Clean and remove the seeds of hawthorn and set aside. After eating an orange, clean and dry the peel, cut it into small pieces (or buy dried tangerine peel directly from a supermarket). Boil the hawthorn and dried tangerine peel with honey for 1 hour, then let it cool down before consumption.
