What Causes Blood in Stool?
Blood in stool may be caused by anal fissures, hemorrhoids, rectal polyps, and other reasons, requiring active treatment. Here are some causes and corresponding treatments:
1. Anal Fissures: Anal fissures generally refer to longitudinal splits in the skin of the anal canal, forming small ulcers, which can lead to perianal pain, constipation, bleeding, and other symptoms. If the patient has anal fissures, defecation may worsen the condition, resulting in blood in the feces. Medications such as lidocaine jelly and Marenwan (a traditional Chinese medicine) should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
2. Hemorrhoids: Hemorrhoids are caused by enlarged veins in the lower rectum or anus, leading to symptoms such as painful bowel movements, rectal bleeding, and anal itching. There may also be blood in bowel movements. Under the guidance of a doctor, medications such as Mayinglong Musk Hemorrhoid Ointment, Compound Carrageenin Acid Ointment, and Gangtai Ointment can be used for recovery.
3. Rectal Polyps: Rectal polyps are elevated lesions on the surface of the rectal mucosa. Most patients do not have obvious symptoms, but a few may experience rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, prolapse, and other symptoms. Surgical treatments include anal resection, endoscopic snare resection, and endoscopic polypectomy.
In addition to the above causes, other reasons such as duodenal ulcers may also be possible. Due to different causes, treatment methods will vary.
