What Is Cervical Liquid-Based Cytology Test?

Update Date: Source: Network

Cervical liquid-based cytology refers to cervical TCT examination. This examination can determine whether there is any cervical lesion, and it is also a screening method for cervical cancer. In addition, cervical liquid-based cytology can also detect Trichomonas, mold, Chlamydia, or viral infections. There may be mild discomfort during cervical TCT examination, but it is tolerable. After the examination, there will be a small amount of bleeding in the vagina, and sexual intercourse is not allowed within 2 to 3 days.

1. If the cervical TCT examination only shows chronic cervicitis, it is generally not a concern. However, if the squamous epithelial cells of uncertain significance are detected, HPV testing should be performed. If HPV is negative and cervical liquid-based cytology is normal, it indicates that there is no cervical lesion, and normal life can be maintained. The examination should be repeated every 1 to 2 years to diagnose cervical lesions early. Cervical liquid-based cytology is mainly used for screening cervical lesions, and it has wide clinical application and high specificity, but relatively low sensitivity.

2. If the HPV test result is positive, colposcopy should be performed. If it directly indicates low-grade or high-grade cervical lesions, HPV testing should also be performed, along with colposcopy or cervical biopsy.
