How to Treat Dry Nasal Cavities?

Dry nasal cavities can be addressed through three methods: drinking more water, using a humidifier, and pharmacological treatment. Dry nasal cavities are merely a symptom with various causes, such as environmental factors and rhinitis sicca. The treatment measures vary depending on the underlying causes.

  1. Drinking More Water: In autumn and winter, the body loses water rapidly, coupled with low air humidity, which can easily lead to symptoms like dry nasal cavities. Drinking more water is the most effective solution. After the body is hydrated, the symptoms of dry nasal cavities will also be alleviated.

  2. Using a Humidifier: Winters in the north are relatively dry, and with heating, indoor air becomes even drier. In such cases, a humidifier can be used to increase humidity and improve the symptoms of dry nasal cavities. If a humidifier is not available, placing a basin of water can also increase humidity.

  3. Pharmacological Treatment: Dry nasal cavities can also be caused by rhinitis sicca, a chronic inflammation of the nasal mucosa, mainly characterized by symptoms such as dry nasal cavities and nosebleeds during onset. To alleviate it, pharmacological treatment can be used, such as following doctor's advice to use compounds like menthol nasal drops and nasal spray for rhinitis, which can keep the nasal mucosa moist.

After experiencing dry nasal cavities, try to minimize going out and avoid crowded public places. Wear a mask when going out to reduce irritation from dust, bacteria, etc.
