The breast pump should be disinfected every time it is used. After each use, the breast pump should be carefully cleaned and disinfected. If some parts cannot be dismantled for separate cleaning, it will cause hygiene dead corners. Here are the steps:
1. Rinse each part that has been in contact with breast milk with cold water as soon as possible after using the breast pump to prevent breast milk from adhering to the pump.
2. Clean each part separately with dishwashing liquid and plenty of warm water.
3. Thoroughly rinse each part with hot water for 10-15 seconds to avoid residual dishwashing liquid.
4. The cleaned parts can be placed on clean paper towels or a dedicated drying rack to air dry naturally. If time is limited, they can be wiped dry with clean paper towels, but avoid using cloth towels as they may contain bacteria and microorganisms.
5. Once the parts are dry, they can be assembled for the next use.
6. Try not to touch the inside of the parts that may come into direct contact with breast milk with your hands.
7. Some mothers may also have microwave sterilizers for their breast pumps. Although the sterilization effect of microwave sterilizers may not meet FDA standards, if the breast pump is only used by one mother and there is no need to consider cross-infection, this sterilization method is acceptable.
8. The tubes of the breast pump only need to be cleaned if breast milk has entered them. Ensure that the tubes are hung to dry before reinstalling them after cleaning as described above. If condensation is found in the tubes after use, simply turn on the breast pump to run idly until the moisture in the tubes is dried.
