How Long Does It Take for a Sprained Ankle to Heal?
1. Generally speaking, a sprained ankle will heal well within about one to six weeks after the injury, but the specific time required depends on factors such as the severity of the sprain, nursing measures, and one's physical constitution, and cannot be generalized.
2. If a patient's sprained ankle only exhibits symptoms such as local swelling and pain, without obvious movement disorders, this situation is classified as a mild sprain, caused by discomfort in the local soft tissue. It will generally gradually improve within one to two weeks. If the patient has a good physical constitution and good nursing care after the sprain, recovery usually occurs within about one week; otherwise, it may take two weeks to gradually return to normal.
3. However, if the patient has a severe sprain or a mild, simple fracture, the recovery time will be extended because a fracture requires immobilization with plaster, and gradual recovery usually occurs within three to four weeks. If the patient's physical constitution is relatively poor, the recovery time will be appropriately extended, and it may take five to six weeks to return to a normal state.
4. In case of a sprain or other discomfort, it is necessary to promptly visit the hospital for examination and receive corresponding treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
