Why is There Increased Nocturnal Urination?

Increased nocturnal urination may be caused by factors such as excessive water intake, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), cystitis, and can be treated with medication as recommended by a doctor.

  1. Excessive Water Intake: If a patient drinks too much water or consumes too many water-containing foods before sleeping, it usually leads to an increase in fluid volume and subsequently an increase in urine volume. Avoiding excessive water intake before sleeping can help improve this.

  2. Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH): It may be caused by factors such as hormonal regulation or aging. The enlarged prostate compresses the prostatic urethra or bladder neck, causing obstruction, which leads to symptoms such as frequent urination, nocturnal urination, and difficulty urinating. Medications such as Tamsulosin Hydrochloride Sustained-Release Capsules, Doxazosin Mesylate Sustained-Release Tablets, and Tanluoxin Hydrochloride Sustained-Release Capsules can be used under a doctor's guidance.

  3. Cystitis: It may be caused by poor local hygiene or bacterial infections. After bacterial invasion, it easily damages the bladder mucosa, causing an inflammatory reaction, mainly manifested as frequent urination, urgent urination, and painful urination. Treatments such as Amoxicillin Capsules, Cephalexin Capsules, and Cefuroxime Axetil Tablets can be used under a doctor's guidance.

Besides the above common causes, it may also be due to conditions such as pyelonephritis. Patients are advised to seek timely treatment and develop good habits in daily life, ensuring adequate rest and avoiding staying up late.
