What does Thyroid Category 4a Mean?
Thyroid type 4a is also a type of thyroid nodule, but due to the possibility of malignant transformation of this type, further pathological puncture may be needed. The current MRI examination is a good method for thyroid examination. If after MRI examination, the thyroid nodule appears to be significantly enhanced, then it needs to be considered that there is malignant transformation of the thyroid nodule.
Based on color B-ultrasound, thyroid nodules are classified, and thyroid nodules of grade 4A should be clinically valued. Usually, the possibility of malignant transformation needs to be considered, and active treatment is required. Firstly, through the following examinations: puncture cytology examination, under the positioning of color Doppler ultrasound, do puncture cytology detection to further clarify its nature.
Non-invasive examinations can also be performed, such as magnetic resonance imaging, which is a better method for thyroid examination. MRI can be enhanced, and if the enhancement is more obvious, the possibility of malignancy is also considered. For such patients, surgical treatment is still considered. The tumor is removed during surgery, and pathological examination is performed after surgery to determine the benign or malignant nature of the tumor. If it is a benign tumor, it can be removed. If it is malignant, the resection range needs to be further expanded, such as lobectomy, which is a commonly used surgical method. Lobectomy and lymph node dissection are also common in surgery.
If the color Doppler ultrasound suggests that the thyroid nodule is classified as grade 4, it is not very serious because thyroid color Doppler ultrasound above grade 4 indicates a certain possibility of canceration, which is generally divided into 4A, 4B, and 4C grades. Grade 4a indicates a risk of canceration, usually less than 5%. Grade 4b indicates a possibility of 5% to 50%, while grade 4C indicates a possibility of 50% to 95%. Therefore, the canceration rate of thyroid nodules of grade 4A is less than 5%, which is a small probability event in terms of probability. It can be regarded as an event that does not occur, which means that the possibility of canceration of thyroid nodules of grade 4A is very small and is not a very serious disease.
