What Are the Signs of a Newborns Growth Spurts?

Update Date: Source: Network

When newborns experience a rapid growth phase, their demand for food begins to increase significantly. They constantly need to be fed, and their emotions become unstable. They can only be briefly calmed down while feeding. The amount of daytime sleep also starts to increase. Newborns grow rapidly while sleeping, and it is difficult for them to wake up even with slight external noises.

During this period, it is best for mothers to breastfeed their newborns. Before breastfeeding, they should wash their hands and breasts thoroughly, use a warm towel to help improve milk production, and ensure that the entire nipple is placed in the baby's mouth to prevent milk regurgitation caused by cold air entering the gastrointestinal tract. Each breastfeeding session should last about 15 minutes.

The bedroom for newborns should have dark curtains paired with white window screens. Parents should avoid talking loudly on the phone or watching TV nearby during the baby's sleep time to provide a good sleeping environment. After waking up, the curtains can be opened to allow soft light into the bedroom, and the temperature and humidity should be maintained within the standard range.

How to Soothe a Newborn During a Growth Spurt:

1. Have another family member take care of the baby to give the mother a break and allow her to relax.

2. Use music to soothe the baby's emotions, such as humming lullabies or playing gentle songs.

3. Provide plenty of touch and affection to the baby, especially during bath time, as it will make them feel comfortable and secure.
