How to Use Double Eyelid Tape without Surgery
Double eyelid tape is a simple, non-surgical method to achieve double eyelids. Its advantage lies in its non-invasive nature and relatively low cost, yet it can cause adverse reactions. Prolonged use may result in eyelid redness, swelling, sagging, and inflammation, hence it's advisable not to wear it for extended periods.
Method of Using Double Eyelid Tape:
- Prepare a mirror with a sufficient size to face yourself directly, angled slightly.
- Gently cleanse eyelids with a cotton pad soaked in toner to remove excess oil and dirt.
- Mark the desired position on eyelids with a small fork, typically 3-5 mm above the lashes. Adjust for inner double eyelids or special effects as needed.
- Apply an appropriate amount of eyelid glue onto the marked position using a small brush dipped in the glue. For existing double eyelids, increase glue to ensure adhesion.
- Wait for the glue to become transparent or use a cool hairdryer set 40-50 cm away from eyelids, closing eyes to expedite the process.
- Use the fork to press out folds in the glued area and refine the lines at the outer and inner corners of the eyes.
Side Effects of Double Eyelid Tape:
- Eyelid redness and swelling due to the tape's strong adhesive properties and poor breathability, impeding proper skin respiration around the eyes.
- Inflammation caused by frequent pulling and potential skin damage during application, as the skin around the eyes is thin and fragile.
- Eyelid sagging, as the tape fails to create a permanent double eyelid and may instead loosen the eyelids, leading to loss of elasticity and an aged appearance.
