As a traditional Chinese medicine formula, Zheng Chaihuyin Granules serve as an exterior-releasing agent with the functions of dispelling wind-cold, reducing fever, and alleviating pain. They are used in the early stages of exogenous wind-cold conditions, manifesting as fever with aversion to cold, absence of sweating, headache, nasal congestion, sneezing, throat irritation with coughing, and soreness in the limbs. They are also indicated for the initial stages of influenza and mild upper respiratory infections with the aforementioned symptoms.
Within the formula, Chaihu (Bupleurum chinense) serves as the principal herb for dispelling heat and promoting diaphoresis. Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia divaricata) and Ginger (Zingiber officinale) assist in dispersing wind, eliminating dampness, alleviating pain, and inducing sweating to release the exterior. Chishao (Paeonia lactiflora) clears heat and cools the blood, while Chenpi (Citrus reticulata) regulates qi and strengthens the spleen, both acting as adjuvant herbs. Precautions for Chaihu Granules
- Avoid smoking, alcohol, spicy, raw, cold, and greasy foods.
- Do not consume tonifying traditional Chinese medicines concurrently with Chaihu Granules.
- Not suitable for patients with wind-heat syndrome, characterized by pronounced fever, slight aversion to wind, sweating, thirst, turbid nasal discharge, sore throat, and coughing up yellow phlegm.
- Patients with severe chronic conditions such as hypertension, heart disease, liver disease, diabetes, and kidney disease should take Chaihu Granules under the guidance of a physician.
- If symptoms do not improve after 3 days of medication, seek medical attention.
- Children and the elderly should take Chaihu Granules under the guidance of a physician.
