What Causes Fever and Knee Pain?

If a patient experiences knee pain while having a fever, it is mainly because the patient also suffers from rheumatoid arthritis. During rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups, patients are prone to experiencing systemic fever, which may lead them to mistakenly believe they have a fever. The fever may not necessarily be caused by the knee pain; it could also be due to the patient having an infectious disease, which easily leads to fever. If the disease also invades the knee joint, causing knee joint inflammation, the patient will experience both fever and knee pain.

Why Does Fever Cause Knee Pain?

1. When a patient has a fever and experiences knee pain, it may lead to weakness in the muscles throughout the body, resulting in knee pain. For most patients, the knee pain will disappear after the fever resolves.
2. If fever and knee pain symptoms occur simultaneously, then the knee pain is mostly caused by the fever. In such cases, most patients have systemic infectious diseases. It is recommended that patients promptly visit the hospital for examination and treatment after confirming the cause of the illness.

Precautions for Fever:

1. During a fever, patients should drink plenty of water, rest well, and take proper warmth measures to avoid catching a cold. It is also recommended that patients refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol.
2. After experiencing fever symptoms, patients should promptly take steps to reduce their temperature, especially those with high fever. If high fever is not reduced for a prolonged period, it can cause damage to the patient's brain nerves.
