What should not be eaten together with lobster?
Lobster should not be consumed with foods rich in Vitamin C such as tomatoes and carrots, foods rich in tannic acid such as tea and grapes, and foods rich in purine such as beer.

1. Foods Rich in Vitamin C
Shrimp meat contains compounds of high concentrations of pentavalent arsenic, which is harmless to the human body on its own. However, when large amounts of Vitamin C are consumed simultaneously, pentavalent arsenic can be reduced to trivalent arsenic, also known as arsenic trioxide or white arsenic, leading to acute arsenic poisoning. Foods rich in Vitamin C include lemon, citrus, tomatoes, carrots, and green peppers.
2. Foods Rich in Tannic Acid
Lobster is high in protein. Eating lobster with foods containing tannic acid, such as tea, persimmons, hawthorn, grapes, etc., may reduce the nutritional value of the protein. Shrimp meat is also rich in calcium, and the tannic acid in these foods can bind with calcium ions, making them difficult to digest and absorb, potentially irritating the gastrointestinal tract and causing discomfort such as abdominal pain and bloating.
3. Foods Rich in Purine
Lobster contains a high amount of purine. Beer, as well as animal organs such as pig liver, duck liver, and goose liver, also have high purine content. The human body has limited metabolism of purine. Excessive intake at one time can easily lead to an increase in blood uric acid in a short period, resulting in gout. When consuming lobster, it is recommended to cook it for a longer duration to effectively kill bacteria or parasites. It is advisable to avoid eating the shrimp head and shrimp intestine, and to refrain from drinking cold beverages within an hour before and after eating lobster to prevent diarrhea.
