Differential Diagnosis of Anal Fissure

Generally, anal fissure can be differentially diagnosed through symptoms, medical history, and electronic anoscopy.

1. Symptoms: A key sign of anal fissure is the development of skin tags at the anterior and posterior margins of the anus. Typical clinical manifestations include pain, blood in stool, and constipation. The severity and duration of these symptoms are indicative of anal fissure.

2. Medical History: Patients with inflammation of the intestines, anal canal, or anal glands, as well as frequent constipation, may be predisposed to anal fissure.

3. Electronic Anoscopy: Electronic anoscopy allows for direct visualization of the lower end of the anal canal, rectum, and sigmoid colon. Additionally, it enables the capturing and magnification of images on a display for detailed observation.

Apart from the aforementioned methods, colonoscopy can also be used for diagnosis. During treatment, patients should avoid spicy and irritating foods such as garlic and peppers, and instead consume fresh fruits and vegetables like apples, bananas, and tomatoes. Their diet should mainly consist of liquid and semi-liquid foods. In case of discomfort, patients should promptly seek medical attention.
