What Causes the Development of Many Small Bumps Inside the Tongue?
The presence of numerous small bumps inside the tongue is often considered as follicular pharyngitis. Typically, patients may experience a sense of foreign body, itching, dryness, and mild pain in the throat, often accompanied by sticky secretions. Morning coughing can be stimulating and may be accompanied by nausea and other symptoms. Long-term mouth breathing, chronic tonsillitis, and irritation from smoking and alcohol are contributing factors. External factors such as cold and dry climates, air pollution from dust and chemical gases in the workplace, long-term irritation from smoking, alcohol, and spicy food, as well as excessive voice use due to occupational factors, can also increase the risk of chronic pharyngitis. Additionally, irregular lifestyle, fatigue, and mental stress can weaken the body's resistance, making it susceptible to repeated infections by bacteria and viruses, which can also lead to follicular pharyngitis.
The harm caused by follicular pharyngitis can be diverse. Firstly, inflammation in the throat can lead to coughing, wheezing, and other respiratory issues. Secondly, throat swelling can affect the swallowing of food. Inflammation or other lesions in the throat can irritate the nerves controlling the esophagus, leading to symptoms such as hiccups and discomfort in the upper abdomen. Thirdly, the thyroid, parathyroid, submandibular glands, and parotid glands, which are endocrine organs located around the neck and throat, are susceptible to involvement when there is inflammation or other lesions in these areas. This can lead to endocrine disorders and associated diseases, such as upper respiratory infections that can complicate into parotitis or thyroiditis.
