How to Interpret a B-Ultrasound Report for Follicle Monitoring?
When reading a follicular monitoring B-ultrasound report, we need to first look at the description of the uterus, such as its size and endometrial thickness, and then observe the description of the appendages, mainly focusing on whether there is follicular development, the location, size, and growth of the follicles. Typically, follicles are round or similar to round, with a relatively full appearance. The diameter of mature follicles can reach about 18-25 millimeters, and usually, women have one follicle that matures each month.
1. First, observe the ultrasound description. The first item of the ultrasound description focuses on the description of the uterus, including its size, the thickness of the endometrium, and whether there are abnormal echoes within the uterus.
2. Check the description of the appendages, including the fallopian tubes and ovaries, to see if there are abnormal echoes or follicular development. If there is follicular development, the location, size, and measurement data of the follicles will be indicated. Finally, the ultrasound prompt below will show whether there is follicular development in the left or right ovary.
3. Since a woman's follicles grow 1-2mm daily and reach a diameter of 18-25mm when mature, intercourse can be performed when the B-ultrasound shows that the diameter of the follicle reaches 18mm. Then, another B-ultrasound can be performed after 2-3 days. If the mature follicle in the ovary disappears, it indicates that the follicle has been released, indicating that ovulation function is normal.
