Can Blurred Vision After Chemotherapy Be Restored?
The restoration of blurred vision after chemotherapy primarily depends on the cause of the blurriness. If the blurriness is due to adverse reactions caused by chemotherapy, it may gradually improve within 1-2 months after chemotherapy, but it is also possible that the vision issue may not recover.
1. Adverse Reactions Are Restorable: Chemotherapy is an important treatment for various malignant tumors. It can control the development and spread of malignant tumors and extend the survival period of patients. However, many chemotherapy drugs can cause various adverse reactions, including bone marrow suppression, gastrointestinal reactions, and alopecia. Some chemotherapy drugs may affect patients' vision or stimulate the secretion of ocular glands, leading to blurred vision. Most of these adverse reactions causing blurred vision due to chemotherapy can gradually recover after chemotherapy. When patients experience blurred vision after chemotherapy, they should visit an ophthalmologist.
2. Vision Issues May Not Recover: Blurred vision after chemotherapy may also be due to gradual vision decline or refractive errors of the lens, commonly known as presbyopia. As chemotherapy patients age, blurred vision may worsen. If the patient's vision is affected and the refraction of their lens is interfered with, blurred vision is usually difficult to recover in such cases. Patients can visit the ophthalmology department of a formal hospital and, if necessary, improve their blurred vision through vision correction.
