How Long Can People with Sinus Bradycardia Expect to Live?
1. Sinus bradycardia refers to a heart rate of less than 60 beats per minute, which is generally a benign condition. There are various causes of sinus bradycardia, including individual differences, age factors, and the presence of underlying diseases. Generally, sinus bradycardia does not affect a person's normal lifespan. However, if sinus bradycardia is severe and leads to symptoms such as chest pain or syncope that are not promptly treated, it may jeopardize one's lifespan.
2. Sinus bradycardia is observed in certain populations, such as athletes. Due to their long-term high-intensity exercise, which facilitates strong heart contractions, a slower heart rate is sufficient to maintain whole-body metabolism. Therefore, some athletes exhibit sinus bradycardia. Additionally, some elderly patients may experience sinus bradycardia due to sinus node dysfunction. As long as it does not affect cerebral blood supply, no special treatment is required, and it generally does not affect lifespan. If elderly patients experience cerebral insufficiency, accompanied by symptoms such as dizziness and vomiting, rest and medical treatment can alleviate these symptoms without affecting their normal lifespan.
