Zhenshiming Eye Drops, also known as Siwei Zhenceng Bingpeng Eye Drops, has the effect of improving eyesight and clearing away cataracts, as well as clearing heat and relieving spasms. The medication consists of pearl layer powder, natural borneol, borax, and boric acid.

Pearl layer powder serves as the principal ingredient, calming the liver, stabilizing the yang, soothing the heart, and improving eyesight. Natural borneol has a refreshing aroma and can disperse stagnant heat, clear away cataracts, and improve vision, serving as the subordinate ingredient. Borax, which is salty and cooling, clears heat, relieves redness of the eyes, and dissipates cataracts, serving as the assisting ingredient. Boric acid has the effect of anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and regulating the pH level of the medication.

When combined, these four ingredients work together to clear heat, relieve spasms, and improve vision. This medication can be used for conditions such as insufficient liver yin and excessive liver qi, leading to inability to maintain vision for a long time, mild eye distension, eye pain, and decreased far vision in adolescents. It is also indicated for pseudomyopia, visual fatigue, and mild glaucoma with the above symptoms. Clinically, it is mainly used to treat eye redness, swelling, and pain caused by external pathogenic heat blocking the eye meridians or liver heat ascending and accumulating in the eyes, manifesting as burning sensation, tearing, photophobia, eyelid swelling, redness and irritation of the sclera, excessive yellow and sticky discharge, headache, nasal congestion, thin white or slightly yellow tongue coating, and floating pulse.

It can also be used to treat acute rhinitis and frontal sinusitis. Precautions for using eye drops are as follows:

2. When using two or more types of eye drops simultaneously, wait for at least 5 minutes between each application.

3. It is best to use eye drops within one month after opening.
