Can the curvature of a bent penis during erection be corrected?
Penile curvature can be corrected. Under normal conditions, the penis may exhibit varying degrees of curvature, and as long as it is less than 30 degrees, it is considered normal. If excessive curvature of the penis occurs due to various reasons, surgical repair can be performed to restore the penis to its normal state. Surgical repair can improve the curvature of the penis caused by various reasons to a more perfect shape, enhancing its physiological function and improving the quality of sexual life between couples.
Men generally do not pay attention to the care and maintenance of "penile curvature," a common male condition, in their daily lives. In sexual psychological counseling, it is not uncommon for men to be troubled by penile curvature. In fact, most of them have physiological curvature rather than pathological curvature. When the penis is in a flaccid state, the sinusoidal muscles within the corpora cavernosa relax during sexual arousal, allowing a large amount of blood to flow into the sinusoids. When the blood flow reaches a certain level, the elastic tunica albuginea surrounding the corpora cavernosa of the penis expands fully, resulting in a rigid cylindrical shape that supports the penis in an upright position.
Symptom 1: Abnormal development of the corpora cavernosa of the penis. If the two corpora cavernosa on the left and right sides of the penis are asymmetric, the penis will curve to one side during erection. If the curvature is not severe and there is no pain or discomfort during erection, and it does not affect sexual function, no special treatment is necessary.
Symptom 2: Congenital deformities such as epispadias or hypospadias. In these patients, the urethral opening is not located in the center of the glans penis but rather in the coronal sulcus, the shaft of the penis, or even near the scrotum. The defective urethra is replaced by fibrous tissue, and when the penis is erect, the traction of the fibrous band causes curvature, requiring surgical correction.
Symptom 3: Accompanying injuries to the penis or diseases such as fibrous corpora cavernositis and Peyronie's disease can also cause penile curvature. Pathological curvature generally has a larger angle, either upward, downward, or to the left or right. It is generally believed that if the upward curvature angle is less than 40° and the downward or lateral curvature angle is less than 30° after penile erection, and sexual function is satisfactory, treatment is not necessary. However, if the curvature angle is large, consultation with a urologist or andrologist is recommended.
