How much does tooth filling cost?
The cost of tooth filling ranges from 200 to 500 yuan. The cost is affected by factors such as filling materials and the degree of tooth damage. Specific costs should be consulted with local medical institutions. Currently, resin materials are generally used for tooth filling in the market. For mild cases, direct repair can be performed, generally ranging from 200 to 500 yuan. However, if the condition has progressed to moderate or severe, the tooth nerve may be infected, so root canal treatment must be performed first, followed by tooth filling or dental crown restoration. Naturally, the cost of treatment will vary accordingly.
Materials for Tooth Filling
1. Composite Resin: Composite resin is the most commonly used material for fillings, based on acrylic resin with added glass, quartz, and other particles to improve performance. Composite resin has a very realistic color, resembling natural teeth, and it adheres to tooth structures with relatively small amounts of molar tooth reduction. There is a special type of resin specifically designed for filling posterior teeth, which is both aesthetically pleasing and strong, and can completely replace amalgam materials. However, a small number of people may be allergic to resin materials, necessitating the use of alternative materials. Additionally, filling with composite resin requires a higher level of skill from the dentist.
2. Silver Amalgam: Silver amalgam is a classic dental filling material that has been used for centuries and is highly resistant to wear. It is also a very reliable dental filling material for posterior teeth. However, its disadvantages include an unattractive appearance and inability to restore front teeth. It also lacks adhesiveness, requiring extensive tooth reduction, and its metal thermal conductivity can easily irritate the pulp. Additionally, concerns about mercury pollution to humans and the environment during the handling process have led to its discouraged use.
3. Glass Ionomer Cement: Glass ionomer cement is produced by reacting glass powder with polyacrylic acid to form a polymer containing ionic bonds. Due to the release of fluoride ions, it can prevent tooth decay to a certain extent. It also has a certain degree of chemical adhesion to silver amalgam and is less irritating to the pulp. However, its appearance and hardness are not as good as composite resin. Therefore, it is currently used for fixed tooth decay and crown filling, but it does not mean that it can replace original teeth and allow you to consume cold food.
