What is Cefmetazole Sodium Used for?

Cefmetazole sodium is a semi-synthetic cephamycin derivative with antibacterial activity similar to that of second-generation cephalosporins. This drug also exhibits good antibacterial activity against some strains resistant to cephalosporins. It has strong antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, indole-negative or positive Proteus, Bacteroides fragilis, Peptococcus (including Peptostreptococcus), etc. Cefmetazole is not absorbed orally and can only be administered intravenously. Many diseases are caused by bacterial and viral infections, and these inflammations require antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment. If not treated promptly, they may lead to other diseases, such as fever. Common anti-inflammatory drugs include cephalosporins, penicillin, tetracycline, aspirin, etc.

It is indicated for the treatment of the following infections caused by sensitive bacteria: 1. Respiratory infections (such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis with infection, pneumonia, secondary infections of chronic respiratory diseases, lung abscess, and empyema). 2. Urinary tract infections (such as pyelonephritis and cystitis). 3. Cholangitis and cholecystitis. 4. Peritonitis. 5. Female reproductive system infections (such as Bartholin's glanditis, intrauterine infection, adnexitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and parauterine tissue inflammation).
