Does Beer Help Nurture the Stomach?
1. Drinking beer does not nourish the stomach, but harms it. Regardless of the type of alcohol, it contains ethanol, which can damage the gastric mucosa, especially for people with existing gastric issues. Therefore, one should avoid or minimize alcohol consumption, especially hard liquor, in daily life.
2. After drinking beer, the ethanol in it can directly act on the gastric mucosa, causing necrosis and shedding of mucosal epithelial cells, damage to microvascular endothelium, and ischemia and hypoxia of tissues, leading to mucosal congestion, edema, erosion, or ulcer formation.
3. Beer also contains a large amount of sugar, which can easily lead to fat accumulation. It can also affect digestion and absorption, easily causing gastrointestinal dysfunction. If you have gastric issues, it is best to minimize or avoid drinking beer. Additionally, avoid consuming any stimulating foods or drinks such as Baijiu (Chinese liquor) or red wine.
