Angong Niuhuang Pill is a commonly used medication for acute conditions, often considered as the foremost among the three treasures. 1. Efficacy of Angong Niuhuang Pill

1. Stroke: It is suitable for both closed and heat syndromes of stroke, presenting with sudden coma, unconsciousness, hemiplegia, facial distortion, clenched teeth, red face and rough breathing, hoarse voice with phlegm in the throat, red tongue with yellow and greasy coating, and taut, slippery, and rapid pulse. It can also be used in cases of cerebral infarction and cerebral hemorrhage with the above symptoms.

2. Cerebral Trauma Syndrome: It is used when blood stasis and coagulation remain after cerebral trauma, leading to blocked channels and causing coma due to internal liver wind. It can also be used in cases of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, Japanese encephalitis, toxic encephalopathy, and septicemia, presenting with high fever, agitation, delirium, hoarse voice with phlegm in the throat, convulsions and spasms, rash with vomiting of blood, red tongue with dry and dark coating, and thin and rapid pulse.

2. Contraindications of Angong Niuhuang Pill

1. This medication is intended for heat-induced unconsciousness and should not be used in cases of cold-induced unconsciousness.

2. It contains Musk, which is fragrant and penetrating, and may harm the fetus. Therefore, it is contraindicated for pregnant women.

3. During the medication period, the diet should be light, and spicy and greasy foods should be avoided to prevent the generation of heat and phlegm.

4. This medication contains Cinnabar and Realgar, and prolonged or excessive use is not recommended. It should be used with caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function.
