7. Comment

Hypomenorrhea can be clinically differentiated into various syndromes such as blood deficiency, kidney deficiency, cold blood, qi stagnation, and phlegm obstruction. When kidney essence is insufficient, Chongren (uterus and its connecting vessels) is not nourished, resulting in the lack of essence to transform into blood, leading to scanty menstruation. In clinical practice, Yishen Tiaojing Tang has achieved good results in treating this condition. The formula includes Shudihuang, Shanyao, Shanyurou, and Gouqizi to nourish yin and tonify the kidneys; Roucongrong and Tusizi to warm the kidneys and support yang without causing dryness, promoting the growth of yang and yin; Danshen to activate blood and dispel blood stasis; Chuanniuxi to activate blood circulation and unblock meridians, tonify the liver and kidneys, and descend in nature; and Jixueteng to nourish and replenish blood, activate blood circulation and clear meridians. The entire formula tonifies the kidneys and essence to nourish Chongren, combines tonification with unblocking, and uses warming and nourishing simultaneously to promote the growth of yang and yin, regulate qi and blood, and restore normal menstruation by unblocking Chongren.
