What Are the Emergency Measures for Tetanus Allergy?

Tetanus allergy is a common situation encountered by many people, especially on construction sites where it is easy to step on rusty nails, which can lead to symptoms of tetanus. When tetanus allergy occurs, patients should immediately take rescue measures. First, remove the rusty nail and disinfect the wound to kill bacteria. Alcohol or hydrogen peroxide can be used to clean the wound. Finally, avoid exposure of the wound to water to prevent infection.

1. Patients with tetanus may not be caused by their own injury, but may also be infected accidentally. It can cause muscle stiffness, numbness in the hands, feet, or infected areas, pulling pain in the wound, redness, and other symptoms of discomfort.

2. There are various rescue methods for tetanus antitoxin allergy. If we want to avoid dirt in the wound in the first time and keep the wound clean, we can treat the wound ourselves with medical supplies if the wound is not too serious.

3. Rust and soil are often present in the environment, so special attention should be paid to avoid reinfection of the wound.

4. Around the deep wound, 1-20,000 units of tetanus antitoxin (ideally, 250-500 units of intramuscular injection of tetanus immunoglobulin) should be injected first to seal the wound. Then, thoroughly clean the dirt, necrotic tissue, and bone fragments from the wound without suturing, and leave the wound open. The wound should be repeatedly rinsed with 3% hydrogen peroxide or 1:1000 potassium permanganate solution.

If injured by a sharp object and uncertainty exists about whether an infection has occurred, it is advisable to undergo a medical examination. Patients are advised to avoid exposure of the wound to unsterilized water and to keep the wound clean. Alcohol or other disinfectants can be used. If unable to handle the situation themselves, it is recommended to seek medical attention promptly.
