What Does "Gu Zheng Lao Re" (Bone-Steaming and Laborious Heat) Mean?
Bone-steaming and labor-caused fever refers to the symptoms of spontaneous heat sensations in the palms, soles, and the anterior chest area due to yin deficiency and internal heat. Detailed consultations with a professional doctor are recommended for further understanding. This condition is a diagnostic result based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). When it occurs, it typically manifests as spontaneous burning sensations in the palms, soles, and the anterior chest area, accompanied by symptoms such as joint pain and physical fatigue. The causes are often considered to be liver and kidney yin deficiency, lung and kidney yin deficiency, and liver yang hyperactivity. If the patient's liver and kidney yin and yang balance is disrupted, it may lead to liver and kidney insufficiency, manifesting as dry mouth, thirst, body heat waves, soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, and other symptoms. If the patient experiences deficiency of lung and kidney yin fluids, they may develop symptoms such as soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, weakness of the legs and feet, insomnia, and excessive dreaming, as well as symptoms like cough and expectoration. If the patient has excessive liver yang and insufficient liver yin, they may also exhibit the aforementioned symptoms. The patient can follow the doctor's instructions to take medications such as Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill), Zhibo Dihuang Wan (Poria and Cortex Phellodendri and Rehmannia Pill), and Guijia Yangyin Wan (Turtle Shell and Nourishing Yin Pill) to help alleviate the symptoms. In daily life, patients should rest adequately, avoid overexertion, maintain a regular sleep schedule by going to bed early and rising early, avoid staying up late, and ensure sufficient sleep. Dietary intake should be light, avoiding spicy and stimulating foods, while increasing the consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables to facilitate recovery. If the patient's condition is severe, prompt medical attention is required.
