How to Cope with Nervousness During a Medical Examination?

Update Date: Source: Network

Physical examination is very common in life, including job entry, organized physical examination by units, etc. Regular physical examination is also very important for physical health. However, for some people, it may be related to childhood shadows. They feel particularly nervous when going to the hospital, even for a physical examination. Especially for job entry physical examination, they are particularly afraid that their physical examination will not pass. So what should you do when you are nervous about physical examination? Here are some suggestions:

1. Measure Heart Rate

About three or four days before the physical examination, download a heart rate or physical examination app on your phone and measure your heart rate frequently. At first, you may still feel nervous when measuring, but after measuring multiple times, especially when you are calm, the normal data will give you a psychological suggestion that your heart rate is normal and you are not nervous.

2. Appropriate Exercise

Nervousness is often caused by fear of being diagnosed with a disease or being unhealthy. Climbing stairs and sweating slightly for about two days before the physical examination can give you a sense of "I am healthy", which is also a psychological suggestion.

3. Learn Ways to Relieve Nervousness

Learn one or two ways to relieve nervousness in emergency situations. One of them that I find particularly useful is to use abdominal force, hold your breath for five or six seconds, and then relax your body. This allows your body to tense up and then relax, achieving the purpose of decompression. I have tried it several times in the hospital and it is very effective.

4. Arrive at the Hospital Early

Arrive at the hospital one hour earlier on the day of the physical examination. This allows you to familiarize yourself with the hospital environment and gives you enough time to relieve nervousness.

5. Start with Other Items or Confident Items

During the physical examination, start with other items or items that you are confident about and have no problems with, such as blood pressure, height and weight, and blood tests. Leave the heart rate measurement or electrocardiogram examination to the end. This can be very helpful. When the previous examinations are all normal, especially when you are told that they are normal, it will greatly relieve your tension and facilitate the subsequent heart rate test.
