What Causes Low FT3 Levels?
FT3 refers to Free Triiodothyronine, which is part of thyroid hormones. If low Free Triiodothyronine is found, it is mostly considered as hypothyroidism, central hypothyroidism, low T3 syndrome, etc.
Primary hypothyroidism: It refers to lesions from the thyroid gland. When thyroid hormones decrease significantly, Free Triiodothyronine may be below the normal range, Free Thyroxine may decrease, and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone may increase.
Central hypothyroidism: It is a lesion that occurs on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. If not treated promptly, it may indirectly lead to hypothyroidism, often accompanied by pituitary dysfunction, which is more common in pituitary inflammation, pituitary tumors, etc.
Low T3 syndrome: Hypothyroidism is caused by non-thyroid diseases, such as renal cortical hypofunction and liver insufficiency, which can indirectly affect thyroid function. It may also be caused by nephrotic syndrome and other diseases. It is recommended to first go to the hospital for examination and analysis in combination with other thyroid hormone values.
